This week in Innovation class, we finished sanding the stall walls in the bathroom. The process took much longer than I had initially thought, probably because we only had an hour a week to work on the project. Next week we will start painting.
This innovation class, we started scraping paint off the bathroom stalls. we used sand paper, metal scrapers, and an electric sander. it took the whole class and we're still not finished. Hopefully next week we can finish it up and start painting.
This week in innovation class my group and I looked for paint to use for painting the stalls in the bathroom. We found some grey paint, but we don't have enough. We are going to look into using campus ministry money to purchase new paint, or a way to fundraise for it. Hannah also removed the ugly pad/tampon dispenser from the wall, and it was a major improvement to the asthetic quality of the bathroom.
Today in innovation class, I started a new passion project. I will be working with Hannah and Emily Pearl to redo the upstairs bathroom at St. Phil. I wanted to join this project because even though my school has fallen into disrepair, it is truly a beautiful piece of architecture. I want to help restore it to its former glory for future students. This week n innovation class, I watched a TED talk from a fellow classmate on her project, which was growing lemon trees. Even though the project had not succeeded, she learned a lot from her mistakes. After the TED talk, I continued to work on my own Ted Talk. I added some stock photos to my slides, and continued to organize my information. I will work on the talk independently outside of class, so that I can deliver it hopefully next innovati day!
This week in innovation class, we listened to a TedTalk on genetic mutations. After that, I continued to prepare for my TedTalk. I found some of my fellow student's blogs and started working on the format for my own.
This week in innovation class, I watched two classmates give their project ted talks. After that, I found the ted talk planning sheet in Google classroom, and began to plan. I looked back through my notes and old blog posts to gather information.
Today in Innovation Class I continued to work on my runner's diet. I specially focased on sugar. I learned that just because you are going to run, you don't get a free pass to eat all the sugar you like. You still have to moderate your intake as a diet high in sugar can lead to getting fatigued quickly during your run. I also made a chart comparing the nutrition benifits of different sources of sugar.
This week in innovation class I continued to work on the protein portion of my runner's diet. I discovered the difference between complete and incomplete protein and the difference in the amount or protein average humans should consume and runners should consume. This week I will see how consumimg this amount of protein will effect my running and workouts.
I have decided to switch gears on my innovation project. I am going to start training for a half marathon instead of a 5k. I decided to make this switch as cross country has ended, and it has always been a goal of mine to run a half marathon. The diet and nutrition plan portion of my project will stay the same, but the training plan will change. This will work out well as I have not yet begun research on the training plan.
